The Deep Culture Imperative
India is experiencing a profound cultural reclamation - moving from colonial shadows to civilizational pride.
This shift represents the world's largest consumer market increasingly demanding authentic representation
of their heritage. The global impact of this -
Economic Power
India's growing economy makes
cultural sensitivity crucial for market
success.
Cultural Influence
Hindu philosophy and traditions are
gaining global recognition and
respect.
Digital Generation
Young Indians are digitally savvy and
quick to call out cultural
misrepresentation.
Diaspora Influence
30+ million Hindu diaspora worldwide
influence global cultural
conversations.
Cultural Mis-steps are Costly
In the modern world, creators, brands, and designers face two critical dilemmas -
1. How to authentically represent Hindu culture without falling into stereotypes, cultural appropriation, or
offensive misrepresentations that can damage brands, alienate audiences, and disrespect billions of people.
2. How to put together the research and knowledge base needed for cultural authentic content, validate
sources, and reach the right domain experts.
Surface-Level Mining
Using Hindu festivals, symbols, and
traditions as mere aesthetic elements
without understanding their deeper
significance.
Historical Inaccuracy
Misrepresenting Hindu traditions,
lore, and historical contexts due to
lack of proper research.
Cultural Insensitivity
Inadvertently offending Hindu
sensibilities through tone-deaf
storytelling or visual representation.
Missed Opportunities
Failing to tap into the rich depth of
Hindu culture that could create more
compelling, authentic narratives.

Bṛhat's role was to create storyboards and guide infographics narration sequence of each temple with authentic transformed into enriching stories, while these stories were brought alive through immersive visuals in VR using voice overs and sounds by Who VR.

Bodhi Dharma
cultural research and authenticity
Preparing a knowledge and creative package for a transmedia property around the life and times of Bodhidharma.
A thorough research was conducted on Bodhidharma's life, filling in gaps with creative interpretations. This information was then developed into storyboards and mood boards to build the narrative.
The project was inspired by various sources, including documentaries and personal experiences of the firm owner. This research was intended to be handed over to the production team for further development into a graphic novel, a game, a miniseries, or a movie.

My Home, My Mandir, My Dharma
cultural research and authenticity
Modern apartment living often restricts the practice of traditional, cultural and spiritual rituals due to fixed modular designs. Our client envisioned an app to offer practical, śāstra-based remedies for such limitations.
We facilitated in-depth research to document core practices sourced from Samhitas and Dharmaśastras that included major pūjās and life-event rituals to daily duties like sandhyāvandana, rangoli, toran placement, etc.
Basing our research in architectural treatises such as Mayamatam, Manasara, Śilpaśastras, we also explored adaptive solutions for challenges like lack of a dedicated pūjā space, compromised vāstu alignment, and maintaining spiritual energy in kitchens and entrances.
