About Aucitya

Aucitya is the discernment of what is appropriate in relation to context, purpose, people, place and time.

Rooted in the Indian intellectual and aesthetic tradition, Aucitya is understood as propriety, fitness or appropriateness. Its relevance extends far beyond aesthetics and creative expression. Nothing exists in isolation. A word derives meaning from its context. A product exists in relation to its user. A building belongs to its place. A leader acts in relation to the people entrusted to them. An institution exists in relation to society.

Aucitya is the intelligence of recognising these relationships and discerning what belongs.
