Śrī Devī Vaibhavam

This śāradīya navarātri let us explore the powerful yet nurturing tattvam of ‘devī’ ‘mā’ with bhakti, through śāstras.

19 Sep - 20 Sep 2025 Completed

Overview

Every living being is powered by ‘śakti’. It is not just energy, but the very essence through which everything operates. From Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Maheśvara, to us, all are bound by śakti. And this very śakti is perceived as devī by our ṛṣis.

As Bhāratīyas, we are inherently worshippers of Agni, and the devatā behind those flames is Parāśakti, our Jagadambā. She manifests as Sarasvatī during sṛṣṭi (creation), as Lakṣmī during sthiti (sustenance), and as Kālikā during laya (dissolution).
Among all forms of relationships, none is as primal, pure, or reassuring as the bond between a mātṛ (mother) and her bāla (child). And it is this very relation that the devotee invokes by calling out to ‘devī’ as ‘mā’. In that sacred utterance, all dualities collapse. She draws us into her lap, unconditionally. Parāśakti, the Kāruṇyamūrti, responds not with delay or judgment, but with swift grace to those who surrender in faith.

Intent

As Śarada navarātri arrives, we will learn about devī-tattvam - the essence and principle of the goddess. This workshop will help understand the spiritual and scriptural foundations of śarannavarātri and the various avatāras of devī worshipped over the nine nights, cited from the Devī Bhāgavatam and Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇam.
